Beatriz was born in Chicago and grew up in Pilsen. She is a member of urbantheater co and Scrap Mettle Soul. Beatriz has been acting since her college years where she had her first part as one of Abigail’s friends in The Crucible. She’s been in a few independent films playing a Chicana roommate in Mirror, Mirror, Angel’s alcoholic Mom in On the Downlow and an abducted woman in One Day in the Middle of Nowhere. She has had theatre training at Cornell, UIC and Act One Studios. Her theatre credits include UIC’s Stories of Eva Luna, Teatro Luna’s Kita y Fernanda and Mongrel Arts’ One Small Illegal Woman. Beatriz has also had the incredible experience of being in Lyric Opera’s production of Doctor Atomic. She is very grateful to have begun her comedic career with such a great bunch of supportive and FUNNY actors. Beatriz has been a member of Salsation! since 2004 and is very grateful for finding such a crazy group of friends who reminds her that laughter is the best medicine.
Famous Salsation roles: Dora the Explorer, Milly Carasco in “Thanksgiving,” student speechmaker Marina Guzman, Harry Perez and Charlie in Willy Wonka’s factory.
Trivia: Beatriz is one of the “Faces of Chicago” that can appear on the Crown Fountain in Chicago’s Millennium Park.
